It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to the 2025 St. Gellért Music Festival. I wish to provide a concise overview of a few distinctive features of the program this year.
After a break of more than 15 years, the Szeged Symphony Orchestra will perform a full symphonic program, including Mozart Piano Concerto Nr. 17 with the celebrated young Szeged native pianist Soma Balázs -Piri.
St. Gellert Baroque players will give a Vivaldi evening on St.Gellért’s day. It is worth noting that both Vivaldi and St. Gellert were Venetians. Its leader, Monika Toth, will perform the monumental Four Seasons with her ensemble.
The pianist Boros Misi is returning to the festival after the debut in 2020 to play Mozart Piano Concerto Nr. 15. Thus we will have two Hungarian rising star pianists – Soma Balázs -Piri and Boros Misi – each with a Mozart piano concerto, which will inevitably lead to a comparison.
Six exceptionally talented students from the Vántus István Music School have been selected to perform as soloists with the Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra of Budapest in honor of the new house and patronage under the diocese of Szeged-Csanad.
I am confident that the concert will offer these performers an unforgettable musical experience.
With 3 orchestra concerts, 1 Baroque evening, and 2 chamber performances, the festival offers you about 700 minutes of miraculous music, which I call upon you to share with the artists.
